To prevent the spread of the corona virus, wearing a face mask will be mandatory for everyone aged 13 and older in public indoor spaces from 1 December. Examples of public indoor spaces are shops, restaurants, museums, petrol stations, cafes, theaters and concert halls. As soon as you are seated (eg in restaurants and theaters) you can remove the face mask.
The face mask will also be mandatory at the station and at the bus and tram stop. For contact professions (eg hairdresser), the masking obligation applies to both the customer and the professional. There is no obligation for people who cannot wear a face mask due to a demonstrable disability. You don't need a face mask during exercise either.
A face mask must completely cover the mouth and nose. The so-called faceshields which do not completely cover the mouth and nose should not be used as an alternative to the face mask.
The face mask obligation initially applies for 3 months and can then be extended.
Anyone who does not comply with the rule risks a fine of € 95.00.
